Wowwww this is a little too spooky for the current political state of the world. Using the pov of a mother to illustrate how the descent into fascism impacts everyday people made an impact on me that I haven’t felt with other dystopian works.

This book definitely grew on me. It think it is beautifully written and the story idea is very poignant (especially now). It's a very 'it could happen to any of us' feel. The thing that bugged me from the start is that we never found out how the gnsb got to power in the first place, and how their original power grabs began, but I kind of forgot about it by the end when so much else had happened. Ended in the perfect place
