Fantastic and devastating book. Deeply funny despite some quite gory sections. Recommend if you liked Animal Farm or The Sparrow. Not many male authors do a woman's POV this well.
Graphic: Animal cruelty, Animal death, Blood, Body horror, Cannibalism, Confinement, Death, Excrement, Gore, Kidnapping, Medical content, Misogyny, Rape, Racism, Sexism, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Slavery, Suicide, Torture, Trafficking, Violence, and Vomit

This was certainly one of the strangest books I've read in ages. Isserley is a fascinating character and I was hooked at the beginning, trying to figure out what was going on. Details about her and her actions are gradually revealed which really built the suspense. However I certainly enjoyed it a lot less after the reveal. It felt like it lost momentum and I didn't feel as invested after that.
Graphic: Violence, Death, and Body horror
Moderate: Sexual assault and Rape
