Olive is a wonderful character in this debut novel by Emma Gannon. She is in her mid-thirties, surrounded by loving friends. Independent, kind and loyal with a generous heart. The only thing that separates her from her friends is that she doesn’t want to have a child.
We don’t get to read many novels where the main character makes this choice and struggles to be accepted and respected by the others even from her nearest and dearest.
Olive shows us that we all have a bit of her in us . As a woman motherhood shouldn’t be a must but a choice. Her easy and witty storytelling also shows us that being mother is not plain sailing .
Emma Gannon gives us a wonderfully warm and at the same time thought-provoking story of friendship and choice of motherhood. Enjoy it..

There's a lot to like in this book, particularly for focusing on a woman who is fairly certain that she doesn't want to have children, even if I couldn't identify with the kind of life her and her friends were living in London.

DNF at 100 pages. I really do not like any of the characters nor do I care about any of them or their lives. I wanted to love this, but no.
Gros coup de coeur pour ma probable dernière lecture de l'année. J'ai adoré suivre Olive dans ses questionnements et ses réflexions sur sa non-envie d'avoir des enfants. Cela faisait longtemps que je ne m'étais plus sentie aussi proche d'un personnage et j'ai vraiment apprécié me retrouver en elle.
