emotional funny hopeful inspiring reflective

As a woman who is child free, in her 30s, and whose friends are all having kids, this book was very very relatable. Many of the thoughts the main character had, I have as well. I really enjoyed it as a result.

Well written and an easy read. Great point of view offering no judgement on either side of the theme. The friendship of the 4 women is fleshed out and relatable.

This subject is a close one to my heart. I also don't want kids and sometimes find it hard to navigate societies expectations as well. I don't think I'm as affected by it as the main character in the book, so it sometimes frustrated me she was as influenced by everybody's opinions.
I thought there was a lot of repetition of the issues and I wished there was more action to support the challenges Olive faces. Sometimes it was very on the nose with the explanation of "what society is like". But overall, I thought it was an interesting story and felt very recognizable.

If the author wanted readers to despise the main charachter then she did a great job.
And no, it's not because she doesn't want children.

The premise of this book felt unique. It has been on my list for some years and I decided to finally pick it up. The main character felt too immature and whiny and the writing felt juvinial. I had it on audiobook and just had no interest in it. Perhaps from reading other reviews that may have spoiled it a bit.

Intrigued by the premise - it sounded relatable and like it would be funny.

I can't get over the writing style though (e.g. the inserted background stories, the inserted characters' physical descriptions) plus Olive seemed a bit too "woe is me" to me. I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about the writing style felt a bit juvenile / YA-ish.

Not for me unfortunately.
