This was a sweet little romance. It was very cheesy in some parts but in a comforting way. It also wasn’t the most literary book but I enjoyed it. I’m ready for book 2. I also don’t believe the baby is his. I think his ex lied to him. I think she drugged him and then lied to him.

I really enjoyed this book. It was such a lovely story, and there were making me smile so many times! I listened to this in audio and have already downloaded the next book! This is a cute love story set in Shanghai, following a strangers to lovers trope.
I absolutely recommend this book!
*THIS IS A DUET SO YOU WILL NEED TO READ BOTH*

With the bad reviews I expected much worse but I can't hate a single thing Ana Huang writes!
Going back to an author's first series is always weird, but it's also nice to see how far they've come. third person ana huang??? never knew it existed. To say I loved this would be an overstatement, however, I did enjoy this.
I didn't expect this to be a college romance (i never read synopses) and found myself reminiscing on that young, first love. I think Huang did an incredible job of evoking those fluttery feelings. Blake—of course, with a name like that—is an ex jockey, still a player-type. We start the book with their breakup so we know it's going to happen but with the promise of their second book being about them, too, my interest was piqued from the very beginning. I just knew what Cleo was going to tell him before she did. I JUST KNEW. and if it's cliche, sure, but I enjoyed the hell out of it. My jaw dropped so many times throughout this book.
I loved the setting of Shanghai and the pieces of Chinese culture woven throughout. I feel like this connected me more to the characters, even the author. Despite them being in college, this book had the "high society" feel that many of Huang's books and characters possess.
Blake and Farrah were cute together and I liked the virgin trope in this case. Probably niche but I just love when the player type gets with the virgin..... WHAT WHO SAID THAT???? no but idk. this just was like your standard love story and I had such a good time while reading!
Blake ,to put it lightly, is a dumbass. I wouldn't even say I like him. He has some groveling to do and I better see that in the next book. But like why wouldn't you tell her? I understand why but also.... if ur having a fucking kid with another woman u should tell her. But I understood his reasonings and his logic, even if it was flawed, and found even by the end after her heartbreak, it was realistic that they still sought each other out and loved each other.
My only real issue was the narrator. She sounded like a bratz doll from the movie. Which might be a good thing but all of the girls' voices sounded the same, and they sounded, well... bratty. The guys voice, however....... excuse me. Also I thought that they'd voice themselves in the other person's POV's but I guess not???? At least the girl did a good job at doing Blake's voice!!!
