Haunting and atmospheric this gothic tale was full of chilling horror, making it the perfect October read. I was completely absorbed in it from the very first sentence and held captive until the very last word.

Shade reimagines the origins of Frankenstein in a compelling and unique way. It's action-packed and has a lightning-quick, rapid-fire pace that kept me glued to the pages and reading as fast as possible.

This was my first time reading anything by this author and I loved it. I'll definitely be checking out more from her. I highly recommend Shade to anyone looking for a good, scary read.

I read this book as part of a book club I participate in. It’s not one that I would have chosen to read in my own but it was a good story. The author did a great job of taking historical people and events and making them come to life and shaping them to fit into the story line.

This... book?... has left me a little confused, if I have to be honest. The idea is nice, a retelling on Mary Shelley with a paranormal and creepy twist. However, the execution leaves a little to be desired. Don't get me wrong, the story itself takes a lot, but I didn't understand why the author decided to make three separated books by less than 100 pages each instead of making a single 200/300 pages book. The plot is affected by this, since the events are too fast, half of what happens and all the characterization are poorly done. I personally hated Mary Shelley in this story, her behavior was on the edge of the absurd. I don't start talking about leaks (like that of the dinner, when Mary makes Percy find an animal head on the plate, he goes crazy but after 2 minutes no one remembers it anymore and the head is gone. Wtf?) or I'd risk going on for an hour.
Idk... the idea is nice but I'm not sure whether to continue the "trilogy" or to stop here. If it had been a single book, I would have finished it, but divided like this... I see it as just a poorly made marketing choice.

I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. Shade hit the ground running from page 1. It is a truly disturbing gothic horror story with some romance thrown in for good measure. It was extremely atmospheric and creepy. I am starting book 2 ASAP. It was rather short and ended on quite the cliff hanger, but since it is part 1 in a 3-part novella series the speed in which I read it made perfect sense. I would recommend this if you're looking for a super quick and scary read.

I love the way this book is written. It reminded me a lot of Stalking Jack the Ripper and Hunting Prince Dracula but I liked it even more than those. This book is shorter and definitely ends abruptly but I like that it wasn't dragged out with unnecessary filler. Mary is a wonderful main character who is intelligent, independent but also admits to herself that she has a touch of depression due to the tragedies in her past. I'm excited to continue the story!

What an imaginative origin story! Shade is a reimagining of the events that led to Mary Shelly writing Frankenstein. The characters are likable, well, except for Percy, and the atmosphere is chilling! It ends on a cliffy, so I'm racing to the next book to see what happens!

Really unique take on how Mary Shelley came up with the idea for her novel, Frankenstein. Very quick and intriguing read. There is a bit of a cliffhanger, so I think I will be continuing the series!!!
