Through a series of adventures and disasters, Candide experiences humanity in search of love and happiness.

Candide’s lessons:Beauty is fleeting. Optimism is silly. Wealth does not buy happiness and creates more problems than it solves. Religious leaders and their respective religions are corrupt. Philosophical musings are a waste of time.

The answer? Hard work = happiness.

Sarcastic and hilarious! The first book I’ve read by Voltaire and I like it a lot. Easy to read. Great book for us pessimists.
