Another fascinating read. A great insight into the life of our generations greatest entrepreneurs. Anyone who read this book, or followed his journey can kinda predict recent antics and political controversy, given that’s how disruptive he is. It’s a telltale sign that we should never idolise anyone, we may admire or revere, but never stop asking questions or speculate. Look at the fundamentals of the problem and question everything. It is also a damning insight into people taking advantage of minority issues at the expense of innovation and drive for success. It really gives people like Musk and the far right to attack or question the policy’s efficacy. Another great, and a must read from Walter Isaacson, after Steve Jobs. There’s some parallel to both. But one must remember the old adage, Power Corrupts and Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely.

No stone was left unturned for this book, Walter Isaacaon really dug into every detail. That being said, this solidified my dislike Musk… although I can respect his intelligence.

Overall, I didn't learn much about Musk that I didn't already know. His life is more public than that of any other billionaire. Walter didn't have much to offer by retelling stories we've already heard via Twitter (most of them).
I appreciate the way Walter has portrayed Musk's qualities and flaws. Musk has an algorithm for getting things done, which he has applied in all the companies he owns. Even employees use this algorithm when presenting to Musk. These principles are similar to the leadership principles in other companies, but in this case, they reflect Musk's personal ideology rather than a collective one. He prefers to have control over everything.
Decision-making is his strong suit, and he makes a lot of them. In 2018, during the Tesla crisis, he was making 100 decisions a day, and around 10% of them had to be reversed. However, he believed that it's better to make a few wrong decisions than to do nothing. He is a strong advocate for taking action and follows the "fail fast" ideology.
Some of his beliefs may be considered debatable, such as his belief that everyone should have many children. In business, he relies more on his impulses, which has led to some poor decisions. If not for a great team that protested those decisions and successfully pushed Musk back on certain occasions, it could have been disastrous for the company.
Nevertheless, you will enjoy this book if you're an adventure lover. It may not be Walter's best work, but it's a good read.
