I don't feel like rating this book. I'm doing a reread to refresh my memory from book 11 to 13 because book 14 will be out in audio soon. But to be honest I was-and only be doing it for the others-only half-listening. Maybe I would have care more if I had reread the series from the beginning but I don't have time for that. So here I am.

I had a very good time! A good balance between an interesting mystery plot and the growth and problems of a relationship

It's always fun to hang out with Vic again. He's grown a lot from those early days when he was a young, confused and unsure man fumbling to figure out his talent, and had just met Jacob. Now Vic has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, and yet, there are always antagonists that challenge his abilities. And being Vic, he's still looking to get a better grip on his abilities and find a new advantage, a new technique, to control and expand what he can do. From chair yoga to drugs he definitely shouldn't touch, Vic's not willing to let either embarrassment or fear stop him, but uncertainty about the right choice dogs his steps.

It was also fun to watch Jacob finding more confidence and more power in this story. He's also come a long way from the stiff with no talent who wanted to be around the weird stuff, to a man with his own highly useful abilities and qualities. It's warm too, to watch him and Vic settles into their relationship, making the accommodations and having the little arguments all couples do, but with certainty of love as its base.

I also enjoyed some time with Crash and Red, Carolyn and Zigler. And best of all, after the excitement and action, we find out this isn't the end of the series. There's a wedding that didn't get much planning time amid the crisis of ghosts and addiction in this story, and some new possibilities for Vic to track down something about his past. More good stuff to come.

This is a series to read in order. The characters, their abilities, and the complexity of the worldbuilding develop and grow over time. But it's great to find that even here in book 11, these are people I care about, and a world I'm fascinated to spend time in. Looking forward to the next one.

Mystery heavy and a bit slower - Vic has gone through changes - interesting ending. Hope we see more of Erin. Full review to come.

I worried about Vic, but also I "like" that he struggles, that his addictive tendencies didn't disappear when he decided to quit (as with any real life addict, unfortunately)
Ever since Valdez was named in some previous book I was low-key hoping he'll show up in some investigation, but not like that :(
That was such a "Jacob" thing to do - not only sniff out that Vic scored a pill, but arrange it so he couldn't take it, it (or I) may be weird, but I feel the love in that <3
I like Erin, I hope she shows up again.
And damn, the Clinic does not have luck for the receptionists or the directors..
Hopefully F-pimp national didn't clue in that Vic had the GhosTV, but also - why where they there? I thought Bertelli just went for higher-ups to hide his shady dealings, but it doesn't line up with how quick they left with the tv, so.. who/what tipped them off?
Good ending for Jackie and Trinity, hope they found some peace beyond the veil.
But those habit demons.. yuck! Vic should figure out to get rid of them

I liked this better than the last book (which wasn't bad, but a bit painful because Vic and Jacob obviously didn't do so well apart from each other), so it's good to see that the series still has potential! Good mystery, and Vic keeps growing as a medium and a person, as is the relationship with Jacob. Some old friends are back, too, which was nice.

Vic and Jacob, how I missed these two!
I liked the portrayal of Vic's struggle with addiction and his inner thoughts often hit close to home.
Reread plans , as I had trouble with remembering occurring characters.

Good Lord! So many things are happening here! Yes, of course, there is the particular case Vic and Jacob are working on (and what a joy is having them working together again!) and having them teaming up with Carolyn and Zig? That was brilliant! And yes, I may have screamed in joy a little when I saw they were having a big part in this book. I adore Carolyn and have a deep fondness for Zig, so yes, I loved to see them again.

But there is also Jacky's storyline which was so irreversibly sad, and yet, with such a hopeful ending. And I love the way in which it comes together with the haunting at Vic's old place!

And then, there is Kamal, and the memories from Camp Hell, and the fingernail demons...

And here, right here, is the reason why I love this series so much: everything, even some apparently random words from a previous book, makes sense. Everything is connected.

And that ending! OMG! I don't know how I'll wait until the next book! Because of that ending... and because I really want to know what it is which has made Darla unreachable.

I hope the audiobook will make the wait less painful :P

As always, I loved every word of this book ♥
