You'd think by the age of 66 I would have learned these lessons. Well, notsomuch. I kept repeating the same mistakes with men until I read this. This is logical and appropriate advice. I actually read it twice while I had it.
Well, I read it. I was intrigued by the title and of the snippets I had seen on tiktok, but this wasn’t a very girlboss book, even though it was marketed as such. It might have even been super progressive when it came out decades ago, but now it seems like the author was just catering to men versus catoring to women. Like I’m sure any man reading this book who is a conservative and rich wholeheartedly agreed, but I think we should be telling women to do whatever they want whenever they want and not pay attention to anyone else and maybe they will put off enough good energy to attract other people’s (men’s?) energy back to them. My favorite “principles” were “once you start laughing, you start healing” even though I couldn’t figure out the context, and “the most attractive quality of all is dignity”
The point of this whole book is: “The most attractive quality of all is dignity.”
Wtf did I just read hahahaha. I guess it gives a new perspective, but it’s got nothing on Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus!
I read this book a couple of years ago and while I didn't love it, it kept me engaged enough to finish. The format of the book packs a punch with one liners and "words of wisdom" followed by supportive descriptions. The end of the book has the list of all the one liners which serve as cute reminders of what the book talked about.
I didn't find the book particularly helpful in the self help sense but maybe someone else will find it life changing and transformative.

I got exactly what I needed from this book. It gave me the anger at my lack of self respect and perspective that I needed to end a toxic friendship. Wish I'd read it years and years ago.
