The story is beautifully complex, but the complexity served to muddy the story for me. It was just a bit "too much."

I could not put this one down, which feels like a small miracle, since I currently have problems concentrating on anything, least of all reading.

I loved the book magic and the complexity of the characters (even The Big Bad makes sense, eventually, and that's saying a LOT, since they are truly horrible!), and how it kept me on the edge all through it all. While some parts of it are very, VERY dark, the last few pages made me cry, as it dealt with grief and (acceptance of) loss.

I really enjoyed this - it was hard for me to put down. The time travel aspect gave me Doctor Who vibes, which is my favorite show. The only thing I didnt love was how the book has these purely evil villains that would do terrible things, and other characters have a chance to get rid of them but don't. Then at the end,

we get this weird unexplained pain that goes from one villain to the next to seemingly explain why they were so evil and maybe justify why they werent killed off?
