As someone who grew up religious but no longer considers themselves religious it was crazy hearing about the Bible and how much of it has been treated as history (which is so true for the school and church I grew up in; they acted like that shit was the law) and how that has contributed to Zionism.

Really great and Informative! Very dense and textbook-like. A bit repetitive but it does start to come together if you keep trucking along! It took me 4 months to finish - glad I bought the ebook instead of checking a copy out from the library! Highly recommend. Zionists will tell you the history is too complicated for you to understand but that’s just a scare tactic.

This book is more an intensive research article that decolonizes history and refutes the myth of “a land without a people” by tracking down every reference to Palestine (as a nation and as a people). It also details the ways in which zionists revised (and sometimes just ignored) history in order to indigenize themselves to the land.
The reading is dense and repetitive, but I learned a lot of important history that’s been suppressed.

Written in a verrryyyy dense style that was often repetitive and very meandering. I thought this would be a history of the culture of Palestine and a broad historical view of the politics that have shaped it thoughout the last 3,000+ years. This book had those elements, but was also more a history of "all the times throughout history that this region was called Palestine." Still important, seeing as Israel is trying to erase that history, but not quite what I was looking for.
All the same, I did learn a fair amount, I just really struggled to get as far as I did and my library book was due. Gonna read some other books on Palestine that I've got on my Kobo soon.
