This one surprised me by being funnier, more touching, and more nuanced than I expected from a road trip second chance romance. The supporting characters, even the dog, had actual roles and personalities, instead of being reduced to tropes. So much of this book felt like a celebration of life, love, community, and individuality.

another book where alison tries to hurt me!!! this book pulled at ALL of my emotions. I, like the FMC Logan, also run away from my emotions so I do not have to feel them. when I first started reading the book, I knew I was setting myself up for emotional damage but SIGN ME UP!!!
Joe and Remi's relationship hurt me the most in this book because if Joe and Remy had just communicated and compromised, maybe Joe wouldn't be left with regrets BUT I am so glad that both him and Remy got a happy ending even if it was an unconventional one.
absolutely devastating but equally wonderful. would 100% read alison's grocery list

As someone who lost her mother almost 7 years ago and is currently taking care of her aging stepdad after a massive stroke.... This one hit hard. Really hard. The grief in this book hit harder than I expected. I'm like Logan. I run from the emotions, I pretend everything's fine but eventually, reality makes itself known and there's no running anymore. Logan and Rosemary's relationship development was lovely but what hit me hardest was Joe and Remy. The thoughts of regrets and what could have been if different choices had been made. And the thought of my 10th grade English teacher who was a cis straight man but showed me it was okay to be curious about the world and okay to want to write about things that weren't considered normal. (Gay stuff, i wanted to write gay stuff and he supported that.) And my 12th grade English teacher who everyone adored and I'm pretty sure was a lesbian but wasn't out in my backwoods country town. But she showed me it was okay to be queer, it was okay to be confused and curious and to explore that in my writing. I'll never forget them. Like the dedication says. "For every queer teenager who became a little too attached to their English teacher." Yeah, this was written for me. This grief will sit with me for awhile, and I'll for sure have a cry headache in an hour but I have no regrets.

Alison Cochrun's books are always great reads and this one was no different. This one is definitely more emotional than the previous books and I was crying by the end of it. Former childhood friends Logan and Rosemary are forced to work together when their former english teacher and mentor, Joe, wants to take a cross country road trip as his final wish. The road trip from Oregon to Maine turns into a life changing summer for both Logan and Rosemary. I thought both main characters were so interesting. Both Rosemary and Logan go on individual journeys throughout this book, but I loved that that they also rediscovered who they were as adults. I really loved how they became closer and cleared up their miscommunications from their teenage years. While the romance between Logan and Rosemary was the main focus, I also really loved the relationship they both had with Joe. I loved how much both women appreciated having Joe as a mentor growing up as they were both figuring out their identities and deciding what they wanted from their futures. The last few chapters absolutely wrecked me and I was crying while listening to the audiobook. Cochrun always writes characters with so much depth and these characters are really well developed. There was some repetition in the writing and the middle portion was a little slow, but overall this was a great read. An excellent sapphic summer romance, I would recommend this to romance fans!

Easily one of the best books I’ve ever read, I can’t believe how much I loved this book.
