road trip rom com about cancer and being gay? love it. wish i had a playlist of all the songs mentioned in the book. loved the characters and how they all challenged each other through difficult situations. the road trip forced them to talk it out like adults and face hard truths. will definitely be on me reread list.

Alison Cochran does it again. Really magical especially with the premise of taking an old friend on one last road trip to discover inner most desires and dreams.
I generally enjoyed this book while reading it, but there wasn't anything that necessarily stood out to me as extraordinary. That is, until the death scene and the following scenes. What a beautifully written passing and show of grief in the immediate aftermath. As I was listening, I went back several times to relisten and take it all in. I even teared up a bit. It's a long build up to that, but it's a really well-written ending, on par with how I experienced The Great Believers by Rebecca Makkai.
