I have to say if you are looking for a book after 50 Shades of Grey, this is your series. Not only are the characters more believable, but they are also more likable too. Gabe has been looking out for Mia since she was young, she is the younger sister of his best friend Jace. Problem is she is all grown up and his feeling have merged from brotherly love, to full blazing lust. Gabe has decided enough is enough and he is making his move, can Mia agree to his strict requirements. Can she submit to his tastes and desires? What Gabe doesn't know is that Mia has been carrying the same torch for Gabe, that he has carried for her, but keeping the relationship from her brother has the chance to pull them apart.

This book was amazing! It was better than Fifty Shades AND Crossfire! I was completely shocked multiple times, and saddened and happy. Truly the emotions were all there. I was happy with Mia, she was a wonderful heroine, and she complemented Gabe perfectly. Jace and Ash were great as well and I look forward to the next books in the series, so that I can read more about them! I thought the relationship between Gabe and Mia was developed well, and it was fun to get to know them. I thought the issues between Gabe and hi parents and Gabe and his ex were a bit stilted, like they were thrown in but didn't really matter much. I also felt like there was no real closure between the parents ex and gabe, is there going to be more of that in the next book? I am anxious to read the next book, totally fan of the breathless series right here!

Second and most recent time reading this book: my rating has gone from 5 stars to 4 stars but I think that is mostly because now I’m a more experienced reader. I still love this book as much as I did before so I think that counts for something I’ve just read better ones, I guess. It did take me longer to read the book this time then it did last time but that’s because I was sick and unable to really stay awake between not sleeping well and working. However that being said I still love that Maya Banks was able to bring a really great book to life and make me feel connected to Mia and Gabe. Can’t wait to reread the rest of the trilogy!

First time reading the series: Better then fifty shades of grey!!

Holy cheese and crackers!! This book was a solid 4.5/ B+. I would love to give it five stars but there is a major "What the fuckery" moment (that I won't spoil) that is keeping me from doing so. Both main characters do something and know something so powerful, that leaves your head spinning. Your mouth is literally left hanging open and you're screaming at the characters!(I'm no prude, so it has nothing to do with the some of the sex, persay in this book.)Gabe is...well, you should probably come to your own conclusions about the man. Let's just say the jury is still out on whether or not he will be drafted for my book boyfriend baseball team. And Mia...Mia is Mia. Don't think I've ever come across a female heroine like her, and I've been reading romance for half my life. This was my first Maya Banks book, and she certainly didn't disappoint. I will say that I enjoyed the many different emotions in this book. That being said, I'm anxious to see what the rest of the series holds. Now I haven't read "50 Shades of Grey" and know that this is being marketed as a "50 Shades" inspired book, but there is no way in hell that these two books could be compared side by side. From what I know, sure there are some parallel lines between the two, but I don't think E.L James could hold a flickering electric candle to Maya Banks. Maya sure does know how to suck you in with her writing to the point where you can't put the book down at all, because you want to watch the foolishness and fuckery unfold. It's definitely and intense and all consuming book that you will want to read in one sitting if you can. I believe that this book just set the bar for contemporary erotica/billionaire tropes/BDSM books.

Best way to describe-If Pretty Women and Fifty Shades had a porno child

Too smutty for my taste but I liked the ending.
