I read Alyson’s Immortal series and loved the first couple of books, but the series started to drag for me towards the end. I was leery to pick up another series by Alyson, but the summary just sounded too interesting and I did like the first few books in the Immortals series and hoped that would be the case with the Soul Seekers as well.

Fated follows the life of Daire, she is a sixteen year old girl who has never really had a place to call home. She and her mother travel so much and as a result they never put down roots. Daire doesn’t really mind this and thinks she is not missing anything. She does however have strange things happen to her often, like time slowing down or visions of glowing people. She never confides these things to anyone for fear of them thinking she is crazy. However, one day when the visions spiral out of control, she goes into a fit and has to be taken to a hospital. The doctors say she has had a psychotic break and recommend her mother put her in a hospital. Forced with not knowing what to do next her mother takes Daire to her to stay with long lost grandmother in New Mexico since she says she can help her. Daire is not too happy about this turn of events until she starts to make friends and gets closer to her grandmother. She likes having people around her that care for her and she starts to settle into life in Enchantment.

Daire’s grandmother teaches her how to harness the power she has been given and I enjoyed the mythology that Alyson painted for us. It is not one I have seen explored too much and I found the Native American twist on all of it very interesting. There is a guide at the beginning of the book to acclimate you to all the sprits that inhabit this world and I did find myself referring to it a couple of times. The Native American culture really permeates this pages and I was very absorbed in learning more about this world.

Fated does have some romance weaved in, but it is really a story about Daire discovering who she is. We follow her while she tries to navigate this new world that she has been suddenly thrust into and learns about her past and what her future holds. I did enjoy Daire as a character, she is self-reliant, but still has some trust issues to work through. She does not want to let people get close, but once the walls come down she is loyal to those she loves.

As for the guys, there are two in here, Cade and Dace. Who also happen to be twins, one light, and one dark. Daire has had dreams for the past six months that all revolve around Dace. She thinks they are figments of her imagination until she comes face to face with him in high school. She gets tongue tied and is not quite sure what to make of him. They have a slow building romance which was very sweet and appropriate for their age and the circumstances they found themselves in. Sometimes in young adult paranormal the love interest can be an insta-love and there is no build up whatsoever. It was nice to see Alyson have her characters get to know one another and take their time building a relationship.

Overall, I did enjoy this book and the characters in it. However, I do not see myself picking up the next book. I did like what I was reading, but I am not compelled to look into the life of Daire anymore. I will read reviews of future books and see how it is received and might give it a try depending on what others say. If you read Alyson’s Immortals series and liked it, then odds are you will like Fated as well. I would read a couple of chapters see what you think and decide from there. Or check around and see what others think as well. Alyson is a good writer and has developed a very interesting mythology for this book, but I am just not wowed by the overall storyline.

What an amazing story line. I love that people and cultures from all over the world were included in this book. Alyson Noel is an amazing author who deserves far more credit than she gets.

This book is amazing

Let's just start off by stating that I am a huge fan of Alyson's. I absolutely adored her Immortals Series. I was so excited when I heard that she was writing a new series.

I was really surprised with the route Alyson took with Fated. In a lot of ways it kind of reminded me of her other series but at the same time it was extremely different. I am not sure if it is because I am such a big fan of the Immortals series or what but I felt like I was at some times comparing the two.

I really enjoyed this book. The mystical elements mixed with Native American culture was great.

I enjoyed the character's. Daire took a little getting used to. I think that her character was just to somber at the beginning of the story and it took a little bit to relate to her. Dace and Cade are going to add an entertaining mix as the story progresses. The whole good vs evil aspect within the brothers is something I enjoyed as well.

I thought Fated was a good way to kick what is sure to be another phenomenal hit for Alyson.

If you loved her Immortals series (and I hate to compare the two) but you will definitely enjoy Fated.

Having read the first three books in "The Immortals" series, I didn't expect much from this book. I was surprised that I actually really liked it.

Daire was nothing like Ever (thank god), and I liked the concept of the story. I'm really fascinated by shamans and the possibility of having a spirit animal. I also liked that the book wasn't really centered on the romance part. We see a lot of Dace, but Daire isn't always drooling over him or constantly thinking about him. She was more focused on finding herself and learning about her power then thinking about some boy.

I didn't like how she acted all high and mighty because she "saw through" Cade the first time he saw him. Like everybody's so stupid for mooning over him. When you're stealing humans souls, it's difficult not to have them worshiping you. I appreciated not whining part though. I'm so tired of reading about the main female whining about her life and whatnot (though we have that scene in the cave).

I don't really get all that Hollywood mentioning in the book. Why did Daire have to live there and hang out with all those famous people? She could have easily been a normal girl having some issues with her mind, no need to have her have a mom who works as a make up artist in Hollywood. I really didn't see the purpose of that part.

All in all, it was an entertaining read. Nothing hard but nothing annoying either. I don't know when I'll be reading the next book, but I'll hopefully get to it some time.

Hysterics.

I felt like that was the common tone through this. Daire begins seeing strange things and only the grandmother she has never met can help her.

I loved the different subject matter. I loved the idea of spirit animals, the mix between the Native American, American, and Mexican cultures. I liked the story.

What took a lot of enjoyment out of it for me was the level of hysterics in it. Whether it was coming from Daire, whose hysterics might be acceptable for a teenager but felt forced, or from her mother, who could have easily been confused as a teenager at some points, I just felt like there was too much of it. I found myself thrown from enjoying the story, the mystery, the revealing of Daire's powers, every time there was a prolonged fit.

But I did enjoy it overall.

I'm not entirely sure what it was exactly that I loved about this book, but I couldn't put it down! I've liked all of Alyson's books that I've read so far but this one has been my favorite. I especially liked the Native American folk lore that this whole series is based on as I grew up on the Port Madison Indian Reservation and have always been interested in Native American history and lore. It also has very strong female characters who you can't help but love. Great read.

Liked it more than I thought...I usually dislike Alyson Noel's books. This book is a great read!

I loved this book. The author of this book is one of my favorites and I knew it won't disappoint me and it didn't.

Loved the concept, very cool! I loved the spirits, traveling between the Middle and Lower areas and Daire coming into her power. It was a little weird that Daire and Dace were meeting in her dreams. But when she met him in real life he seems pretty sweet and caring. Of course he would have to be since Cade is beyond creepy. The spirits and demons he is calling up are sound freaky and I for one wouldn't want to take them on. But I do like that Daire is more than willing to put up a fight. She is a strong girl and she does what needs to be done, even if she is hesitant at first. Daire's mom is pretty interesting and I liked her. I thought that Daire & Dace's relationship was kind of quick and happened kind of fast, however this book was more about Daire learning about who she is rather than her their relationship. But the end of the book definitely left me wanting to read more to find out what will happen next and to see how their relationship develops.

Welcome to this book review !

Well... How do I start this, it's the second series that I read by Alyson Noël, I oved the whole idea of the book. It was orriginal and got you wanting more of this world. Though I prefered Even in the immortals series, Daire got me ! She was so genuien, real and so easy to relate to. It's an easy read and something that is fun but probably will never be a reread. I like it but it wasn't more that. It's in my opinion a good in-between book, book. And as usual I must say Alyson's writing style is still as marvelous as it was !!! definitely give it a shot !
