Although the wrapping up of the trilogy was satisfying, this book had some serious flaws, imo. It veered from post-apocalyptic to gruesome horror. Much of the book was spent describing, in vivid detail, ways people are killed by the abbies. I was expecting more character reactions or the emotional impact of the deaths, but it was often just a recitation of gore.

I also found the relationships among the main characters were wrapped up way too easily. People don’t simply move on from the level of heartache the characters experienced.

The first two books in the series were better.

Another exceptional page-turner from Blake Crouch! I love his realistic dystopian stories, the believable worlds he creates, and the flawed characters that inhabit them.
