#1 of 5 (?) - This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi
*SPOILERS AHEAD*
A YA romantasy read featuring Alizeh, an heir to the Jinn throne and Kamren, the current human prince and the feelings that transpire between them. This reads very love at first sight (which I am not a fan of). We have the Jinn magic system which appears very OP (Alizeh has invisibility, is resistant to fire and heals fast, but maybe that's just because she’s heir). At times it made me wonder how the humans were in power…
LOVED all the references to Iranian/Middle Eastern culture - rosewater, baklava, orange blossom scents, hamams, really made me feel a part of the world imagining it!
I liked the characters - the two kings mentioned don’t seem 100% evil, there are definitely well thought reasons for their actions. Even a minor character like Miss Huda - it was interesting to hear her backstory and I am amused by her dramatic expressions. And of course our cutie, Omid!
ALSO, the 4th book comes out next month!! I was searching around online and I believe this is a 5 book series (to potentially conclude in 2026)?

This book is one very large prologue that should have been extensively cut down because it doesn’t get exciting and start the actual story until the 90% mark.
4.5 ⭐️I was so scared I wouldn’t like this book but I’m so relieved I actually did !! I’m sooo invested can’t wait to start book 2 because of the way this ended I’m too excited !

What can I say...
This book was amazing! It shocked me in one moment, made me laugh in the next, only to make me angry right after.
However, there were a few moments where I was no longer fully into the story.
However, these were more than balanced out, but somehow it still doesn't quite had that 5 star feeling.
BUT I can imagine that the next books will be 5 stars.
I'm really looking forward to the second book because it sounds like it's going to be pretty amazing.
