As the city grows, the green space shrinks. Is there a way to have green in the city? Perhaps a community garden? "Brown, brown, dig the ground." With short, rhyming text and colorful illustrations, this is a beautiful read. The illustrations in this one are gorgeous!

Love the simple text and beautiful illustrations. This would book could be used to introduce preschool and school age children to environmental topics.

I really wanted to like this book, but I had trouble following the narrative (partway through I had to look back because I wasn't sure if I had missed something) and the vast array of characters, who I thought I was supposed to follow through the story, didn't really align when I read it again. That bummed me out because I wanted to love it, but the first "stanza" didn't seem to fit with the rest of the rhyming prose in the story for me. I appreciated the diversity amongst the people in the story and the illustrations were lovely and lively. This would be good to share before having students plant their own garden or seedlings - especially with the additional information in the back matter.

Green Green is a sweet picture book filled with simple rhymes and lovely illustrations and it encourages the idea of creating community gardens. A lovely book with a lovely message, ideal for introducing the idea of community gardens to younger children.

I really loved the illustrations in this simple story with only a few rhymes per page to tell the story. It is about an urban community garden that the community come together build grow even while the city around it is growing. It brings a sense of ease to the community working together and enjoying its presence among the concrete.
The kids didn't seem to be move one way or the other by it. They were still and listened and the story didn't seem to affect them as much. We have a yard with green in the city so maybe a garden is not a big deal to them as they help with it each year.
I enjoyed this.
