Hiro gets introduced and I forgot how much I disliked this little brat. After reading the volume, I remembered that he's a brat because of his feelings towards Kisa and not being able to protect him, but that doesn't excuse his behavior towards Tohru.
We also learn more about Arisa and how her and Tohru became friends. It was nice to see more of Tohru's mother and how even though she had quit her gang, she still could fall back into those habits if she needed to. I don't approve of her saying she had beat up a bunch of middle schoolers, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she didn't actually do that and just scared them off. Either way, the encounter that Arisa had while hanging with Tohru and friends brought up her memories of being in a gang and how she's doing better without them.

Ha-san! That was heart braking.
But I don't understand why Akito is such a jerk. Why can't the members of the Sohma family marry regular humans or others of the family?
Seriously, Hatori san falls in love with a human but Akito forbids it, but Hiro tells Akito he wants to marry Kisa and Kisa gets beat up by him. WTF?
Akito, well, it's never really been said, but I wonder if he has mental problems. Apart from his health problems.
Why is it that this manga makes me want to cry? Why? Everything is so simply drawn, I just don't understand how so much emotion can be left in such a simple drawing.
Well, actually I do. It's no wonder Fruits Basket was the top selling manga at one point.
But I just love this series so much. Theres so many parts to it and I love it's complexity even when everything is looked at so simply.

I have read the cute, heartbreaking story of Fruits Basket years ago. And I read it about 3 or 4 times, maybe more. The story is a bit cliche, but the characters are memorable.
A story about closed off loners that broken, depressed and sad individuals hoping for a happiness they could never achieve. Each characters deals with the pain and loneliness differently, learning how to embrace happiness and bloom into individuals they never thought they could be.
Its beautifully written, heartwarming, with relatable emotions anyone can feel. This is one any manga avid reader should go through at least once. A classic that should honestly be recommend by anyone.

The 'ending' of the anime occurred in Volume 6 of the manga, but Volume 7 still contains storylines that were introduced in the anime. For example, meeting Hiro and President Motoko from the Prince Yuki fan club. I really liked learning more background about Arisa Uotani and Kyoko though!
