A little long in my opinion, but still a good mystery/thriller. I think the main character (Connie) was irritating beyond belief. I understand how exhausted she must have felt, but good grief...try to compose yourself a little instead of sounding SO crazy all of the time! Also, I think the whole Charlie/Simon relationship is SO weird and if nothing is going to happen then why keep talking about them?? I honestly think they weren't even essential to the plot of this book so I'm not even sure why they were included in the first place. I agree with many other reviewers who say this book could have been shortened if the author cut out half of the BS characters/dialogue that wasn't necessary. That being said, I was still interested in the book and I really wanted to know what had happened so on the mystery aspect of the book, it was good. The mystery kept me engaged and got me through to the end, despite the conclusion being a bit convoluted and hard to understand at first.

Not my favorite Sophie Hannah book. It took forever to get anywhere with the storyline. As someone else said I finished it just to see what the heck was going on. I gave it 3 stars because of some of the twists at the end. Not sure I can continue with Sophie Hannah and Simin and Charlie.

First of all, I hate when life and work interfere with my reading. Hence the reason for the length of time it took me to complete this one. Second of all, this book was all sorts of F'd up.

I've been looking forward to reading this author for quite sometime. All these titles in the series seem like they can stand alone well enough. I'll have to confirm that suspicion with more titles down the road.

Once I could get into the guts of this story, it completely messed with me. I could not wrap my head around all the unknowns. So many questions, then more questions jumping out of the woodwork. This was definitely a psychological thriller, operative word being "psycho!!" Once you wrap your head around the conclusion, it really effs up the noggin. I had a hard time toward the end how the detectives so eloquently discuss the case at a pub then take the revelation from there to the scene of the crime. It was summed up too quickly, the lack of investigating within the investigators, more or less just talking out what they think happened, which is exactly what happened. Kinda lame. But the characters are definitely well written. I will eagerly wait to read more of Hannah's stories.....when I'm in the mood for cray-cray again.

This book will keep you engrossed and wondering what the hell is going on until the last chapter! I have long since given up on trying to solve mystery books while reading them because as soon as I decide what is going on my theory is immediately disproved within the next few pages. This book was no exception. Is the main character schizophrenic? a hypochondriac? a jealous wife? a walking plethora of neuroses? Read it and find out! It will definitely keep you captivated until the last page.

Connie Bowskill can not sleep. She decides to get up and check out check out houses for sale. Connie already knows before the website has finished loading which house she is going to look at. It is 11 Bentley Grove. Connie is obsessed with this house. Although, Connie already knows every detail about this house, she decides to take the virtual tour. The first slide is of the kitchen and then the next slide is of the lounge. This is where Connie spots her. The woman lying in a pool of blood. At first Connie can not believe her eyes. Then Connie wakes up her husband. Only when he comes to check out the computer screen, the woman’s body and the blood are both gone. Is Connie going crazy? What does this all mean?

I have seen Sophie Hannah’s books all over but I just have not had the chance to read one until now. When I read the book summary about this one, I thought it sounded intriguing and one that I had to check out. This book was intriguing and had a psychological feel to it as well that was creepy (in a good way). However after a while, I started to go tried of the slow pace the story had and flashed forward until about the last several chapters of the book. Which I did not feel like I missed anything by doing so. The last several chapters are where the whole plot was revealed. It just took a long while to get to the ending.

While, this book can be read as a stand alone novel, there was a lot of hinting to back story and history that the main characters had with each other that I felt was some what important to the story. For this reason, I do wish that I had read all the other novels in this series. What I did read from this book, I did like. I will check out more of Mrs. Hannah’s prior novels.

This book begins with such an outrageous series of unlikely events that it seemed impossible that Sophie Hannah could pull it off. She does, though, with each odd happening explained in a way that fit the story. My only complaint is that in order to do so, she is forced to use the old-fashioned trick of having the baddie meticulously explain their nefarious plan as they hold the protagonist hostage.

Connie has been certain that her husband has a lover ever since she found the evidence in his car and nothing he can say or do can convince her otherwise. She obsesses about the woman she thinks he's having the affair with, spending hours following her around. When the woman's house is put up for sale, Connie takes the virtual tour on a real estate website, looking for evidence of her husband's presence in the house. Instead, she sees a murdered woman, briefly visible, in the house.

Hannah's strength is in writing well-plotted mysteries centered around a troubled protagonist. Her heroines aren't always easy to like, but they are always in the middle of something horrible, whether by design or accident. Connie is, by nature, nervous. Her family ties her in knots with their unspoken expectations. She can't leave her husband, but she can't trust him either. She's a mess. And then someone starts playing with her perceptions of things. This is a clever book, sometimes sacrificing authenticity for that cleverness, but it's a diverting and entertaining read.

Simply ok, started well, sucked me right in, but seemed to meander rather and in the end was frankly, ridiculous!

When I looked this book up on Goodreads, as I usually do before I start reading, I was apprehensive because most of the reviews weren't all that positive. That being said, after finishing this book, I will never be influenced by reviews ever again, because I LOVED THIS BOOK! It kept me guessing till the very end. It didn't give me time to think up a possible ending, because there were always new pieces of the puzzle coming to light that ruined all my theories. It left me dumbfounded till the last page, literally!
I will admit, starting with the 6th book in a series, I did feel that there was some history with the detectives working this case that I clearly had no idea about. However, it did in no way affect my enjoyment of this book!
So far, best psychological thriller I have read in 2020. I will definitely be picking up the other books in the series.

Fascinating premise, however, the character's motivations made very little sense to me.
