One that's been on my to read shelf for a long time.
Quite enjoyed the slower simplicity of this. A good level of world building, and an interesting concept. I think the ending was fitting, and now just need to decide if I continue with the 4 in the rest of the series!

I first read this book a very long time ago. Jr High maybe. I read through the whole series and anxiously awaited the next book. 9 years it took the author to get the next one and when I discovered there was another one coming, I decided to wait her out until she finished the series. So, more than 25 years after I began the series, I began it again. I don't think I would recommend it for a middle schooler, mostly because it contains sexual violence. It is a definite page turner however and I am enjoying the read.

Listened to this as an audiobook.
Fantastic pseudo-anthropological story. Aside from the actual story line, the descriptions of prehistoric neanderthal life and activities are fascinating. I of course didn't take it as an actual scientific account, though it does seem quite well researched, but as an excellent example of world building.
