Ever since I fully gave my life to God, I have been reading and rereading the Bible over and over again. This book is His Word to His children and studying it with God has improved my relationship with Him so much. The New Living Translation is my personal favorite Bible, because the Scripture is written in an easier to read way, but it’s still complex enough to really dig in and study hard. I love studying the Bible because God is always speaking to me, and He has used His Word to change my life. Obviously the Bible can’t do that by itself, because God is the only One who can truly change your life, but reading these Scriptures has made into a happier and more faithful woman. I would honestly recommend the NLT Bible to anyone, Christian or not. I feel like it’s a translation that can be a great start if you’re a new Christian, or a great way to dig deep for someone who’s been a Christian for years. Overall, I want to thank God for always speaking to me through His word, and for always blessing me. My life has become much better ever since I submitted my life to Him. Glory be to God forever and always <3
I picked this bad boy up in 2008 after a car accident I caused. And a rosary I hung in my car, lol.
This is my first cover-to-cover read through of the Bible and it took 14 years lol.
I brought it with me to college Bible study and now I’m pretty pagan.
I like how much the Bible has evolved and how much canon there is around it. It’s a journey you can take over and over again. I recommend reading with God Is Disappointed In You and The Year of Living Biblically.
But, MAN. Do I implore all Christians to read this, cover to cover. God is wrathful, spiteful, jealous, and overall if you were dating him I would tell you to leave. He created us just to be mad at us, it seems, lol. (And as much as I want Jesus to be the cool son who Loves, Loves, Loves he’s got his, uh, quirks too.)
So much of it is insane! Circumcision is mentioned ~100 times in the Bible. People talk to burning bushes. I’m not going to touch revelations.
It’s a little wild — and scary — how much of society is based on this book.
And my 88 book of the year, yeah angel numbers!

Finished in about 120 days. Wild to read this text in context, and in some ways, a little upsetting.
5 stars because uhhhhh I wanna go to heaven.

NLT is part of my parallel bible (NKJV, ESV, NLT & The Message). NLT is helpful in the OT.
Gotta love variation.

I mean... how do you not rate the Bible 5 stars? But also, this was tough for sure. Definitely a hard read. There were days I read, days I listened and days I was so confused I didn't retain any of it. I never realized how repetitive the Bible really is, but I guess that makes sense since it was written by several authors. I also found parts of it absolutely beautiful written and other parts were really difficult to read. Overall, I'm glad I read it, but it left me with more questions than answers. As a Christian, I know I'm far from perfect, and reading the Bible daily did help me think and grow this year. I still need TONS of improvement, but I'm glad I have a reference to help me along the way.
An accurate and understandable translation of the New Testament. This is one of the best translations out there, easy to read and very compelling.
I like how this version is written in easy to understand English and I like how instead of everyone being referred to as "man" it is "men and women".
We'll I did it. I set out in 2014 to read the Bible in one year and I did it. This is by far my personal favorite translation. It was the easiest for me to understand and it made it way more helpful to learn things as I went through. And I did learn so much going through the Bible.
The Bible. It's great! I had never read the New Living Translation all the way through. I would highly recommend it, especially to those who are new to reading the Bible. Very readable.
