So imagine you are talking to your son about shifter romances, and he asks if there are any about meerkats. Well, any good mother would be obliged to find one, and then read it, right?

This one was surprisingly cute and funny. I don't read a lot of shifter books, but I liked it. Recommend if you like shifter romances with sparks and you can suspend disbelief enough to enjoy the story. Plus, it's short but sweet. 3 stars.

Well, I really liked this one. Except, I think it was a bit too short. I hate insta-love, and this wasn't that, there was actually a history between the characters, but we just got in at the end of the story. So, I wish the book had started earlier. Because now it felt like an insta-love thing. I also wished there was more world-building. Now the whole shifter part was thrown at you, which worked, but after the revelation, there could've been more about the world of shifters. This was a short book though (not even 100 pages) so I will check out some other books from the same writer to see how I like them.

I seem to have a Thing for short stories about unusual animal shifters. This one is silly, fun, and could have used just a touch more heat...but it was an enjoyable, low-drama ride.

a parody of paranormal romance that reads like a perfectly fine paranormal romance on its own - if you've read werewolf marines, this is one of the ridiculous books charlie is reading. it's out-loud hilarious (meerkat shifters! screechy celebs! evil lawyers! stakeouts! bickering! meerkat clans!) but also wholeheartedly fun, with not a single drop of depth or anguish, but plenty of adoration, awkwardness and hilarious respect between the leads, and it makes for exactly one perfectly relaxed subway ride. go for it on a rainy day.

I have to admit up front that Mated to the Meerkat isn't up to the level of Silver's longer works. I missed the deeper thought in the longer books. But, at the same time, this title is so much better than the run-of-the-mill shifter books out there that it still gets five stars.

I didn't read the blurb until after I read the book, which is good since it meant I got to enjoy lots of surprises as the story unfolded. But if you're like me and don't want anything to color the story for you, there's not much I can write without giving away the fun twists! Suffice it to say that neither the hero nor the heroine is exactly what they appear --- paparazzi hot on the trail of celebrity screw-ups. You'll have to read the book yourself to find out more!
