This book was fast, fun and very flirty. Loved the witty and sarcastic banter between Hayes and Tali, I thought they were hilarious together.

If I’m being honest, not the most believable enemies to lovers- they never seemed to truly hate each other. But it did have some great build up and tension nonetheless. This gave more dislike to friends to lovers! I liked their trauma bonding and how their mutual distrust for people became the very thing that helped them trust each other.

Hayes has a bit of a phase which I do find to be slightly problematic in terms of how he conducts himself, especially considering what he said at the end of the book.
Like be a manwhore fine, but don’t make it other peoples problem. Especially Tali who you claim to have loved since before she was your assistant yet have been having sex with anything that moved in the meantime? I am confused.
I do feel like he wasn’t a very linear character. But when he was good? Oh boy. All I’m saying is… STAMINA. Plus his surprise for her near the end?! I also love how he supports her, encourages her to pursue her dreams and hypes up not only her looks but her intelligence and achievements too!

I read this in one sitting so it was very addictive and I do think most of that comes down to the banter and chemistry between the characters. It was a fun read and I think would be a great one to get you out of a slump but not gonna blow your mind. It was just average.

I would like to know if there’s a shop to buy Jonathans though? I want my friend to hook me up with a job that pays 4K a week. The hot, rich, dr boss is just a bonus 🤷🏻‍♀️

In terms of actual writing quality, there were some errors which deffo should have been picked up during editing. Not sure how they weren’t. Nothing too major or too annoying but they were there nonetheless. Things like missing words, too many words just general grammatical mistakes.

I would also say the author didn’t handle some issues in this with the sensitivity they maybe deserve. If you have fertility issues you may struggle with some of the themes surrounding the side characters, and the way they were handled, because I personally found myself struggling with that.

Microtropes I enjoyed:
~jealousy
~leaning on door frames
~don’t touch her, don’t look at her vibes
~he falls first

I honestly wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this book after seeing some reviews, but I really liked it. I enjoyed the banter between Hayes and Tali, and there wasn’t any over the top drama. The ending felt a little rushed to me - there definitely could have been a little more time dedicated to it. My only real issue with the book was the single POV. We only get Tali’s viewpoint, and there were plenty of times I would have liked to read from Hayes’ POV.

This was an absolute joy to read! Just contemporary "enemies"-to-lovers (y'know the non-fantasy one without war crimes 😉) at its finest. Also the first time I actually bothered downloading extra content and it was so worth it 😍 Looking forward to reading more from this author! 🥰
