Raunchy small town romance

This was fresh and different from the usual romances out there. The spicy scenes were hot and dirty, maybe a little too dirty for my personal tastes (especially the one involving a cucumber), hence why I deducted a star. However, what made this special was the character of Atticus, larger than life, and with incredible heart and wisdom behind the gruff exterior. He was the perfect foil for Goldie, who is emotionally damaged and trying to recover from her trauma. An enjoyable read, though a little over the top at times.

I couldn't get enough of Atticus and Goldie. Atticus tough exterior melts away when he's with her and I loved to see it. I also loved that he waited until she was ready. Goldie is a vision of strength. The spice was dammmmmmmnnnn and I wanted more. Highly recommend.

Every woman needs a man that feeds her pie and watches murder documentaries in bed. Goldie hit the jackpot with her sweet husband and his monster! I have nothing but good things to say about this story and I love how these two’s story ended. The spice in this book was absolutely amazing!! Bravo, Bravo, Bravo!!

Alright..where do I start?! How about with how “normal” Daisy’s books seem, and then she completely blindsides you with absolute unhinged-ness?! Believe me, after this book, you will never look at a cucumber again! That scene will forever live rent free in my brain!

This is book two in the Wrench Kings series and listening to Daisy and Ryan West narrate this one—HOT. DAMN. I was not prepared; they did a phenomenal job with this narration! They did an impeccable job bringing Atticus and Goldie to life!

This one showcases two MC’s that both have their own mental health issues that they have refused to face and work through for quite some time. They also want nothing to do with each other until they end up snowed in together for a weekend!

The growth of both Atticus and Goldie is so good, and had me just a bit emotional by the end with how far they had both come! ALSO, the way in which Atticus stands up for Goldie to her mother?! SWOON.

If you’re looking for a series with some different kinks, lots of spice, and phenomenal characters, look no further, this one is for you!

Goldie Hawn Berry has always been bubbly and fun, when a devastating trauma leaves her single, broke and jobless, Goldie loses herself. Atticus Winters is a forty-two-year-old no-nonsense mechanic with zero intention of being someone's other half. When their friends become a couple, Goldie and Atticus are forced to be in each other's lives. They both have healing to do but the similarities end there--with one grump and one ray of sunshine, these two are completely different. But you know what they say, opposites attract.

Goldie and Atticus are the complete opposite, where Goldie is prim and proper and somewhat shallow, Atticus is grumpy, blunt and often filthy which Goldie loves to hate😂 They said opposite attracts and this was what happened between them, they both loathed each other initially. We see them falling in love despite their difference, and it was a slow burn. They didn’t even do the deed until 80% but do not worry, as they do a lot of dirty filthy things leading to it and it was HOT 🔥 Goldie can’t help but succumb to his monster c*ck despite hating his filthy and oily hair. Like seriously, if you’re a germ phobe, I would not recommend this, but even when I’m kind of particular with personal hygiene, I was surprisingly okay with this, so take that as you will.

I love that the characters are in their late 30s and early 40’s who’s facing a real and relatable issue. And they also both have some pretty serious and emotional baggage from their past, and they help each other through that. And that ENDING! It was so beautiful and touching, just PERFECT! I love this book and would love to check out more of her work!

This is a duet-style narration, both narrators are new to me, and I love them! Daisy Jane narrated this book herself and she does have a beautiful voice, and who better to convey a character’s emotion than the author herself? And she picked a wonderful male narrator, Ryan West’s voice is deep and sexy, just as I imagine Atticus would sound. Top-quality audio, highly recommend it!

💡The Brazen One is Book Two in the Wrench Kings series, and is an interconnected standalone.

As an audiobook, the narrator had the whole grumpy characteristic of Atticus perfected from the very beginning. His tone and inflection suited the whole gruffness perfectly, yet the softer sides of the character shone through too, and let’s not disregard the dirty talk because *woo, is it hot in here* honestly, chefs kiss, perfection.

The Brazen One is an emotional read that deals with some pretty heavy topics from SA, eating disorders, grief, and narcissistic parents. Atticus originally comes across as very curt and grumpy and has an instant dislike for Goldie when they meet, and she comes across equally as snarky to him, but as the story progresses and we learn more about them, it becomes apparent why they both act the way they do. Their walls come down, and they become each other's safe place, and it was beautiful to watch.

As grumpy and moody as Atticus is, he’s also a complete sweetheart underneath. We saw his caring side a little in The Wild One with Beau, but he really comes into his own with Goldie. His methods might not be the most obvious, but they get the job done and are done from a good place.

His parents make great side characters, especially his mom, Edie, who took on a protective role with Goldie and also acted as a buffer between Atti and Goldie when necessary, being a voice of reason, and I love that Goldie found that in her because her own mom was an absolute bitch.

While I did enjoy the book, and I understand the reasoning behind some of the descriptions regarding Atticus were to make sure we knew he was a manly man who worked hard doing manual labour and fixing things, etc., the continued emphasis on details such as being greasy and sweaty and the suggestion he had poor hygiene was a bit of an ick for me as I have OCD and the fear of other people’s germs from sweat, etc. is a huge trigger for me, and while I’m used to it being an issue in real life, I’ve never had such a reaction to it in a book until now. Honestly, the whole cucumber thing didn’t affect me as much as the descriptions of Atticus’ griminess did.

Body issues aside, this was a great book that showed how you shouldn't judge a book by its cover because you never know what's going on behind the scenes, and in Atticus and Goldies situation, they were both wrong and allowing their pasts to determine their futures.
