4.25 The movie is similar to the manga for the first volume. There is much more detail on the other kingdoms that aren’t in the movie that definitely adds to the lore. The art is fantastic and it was an enjoyable read from one of my favorite Ghibli movies.

Apart from my inherent bias over loving the anime, the graphic novel was predictably gorgeous. The story didn't read as repetitive, and instead bulked out the anime story line. Action, adventure, psychic insects, and environmental advocacy-what more would you want in a book?
