3.5 stars. This wasn't bad at all, I just had some issues and found it a lot less compelling compared to Cherry Beats which is one of the best books I've read. This book lacked the magic the former had.

The good:
» Vicki James writes beautifully. She's probably one of the better writers in the romance community, and if I read more of her stuff she'll end up in the 'amazing authors' section.
» The playlist was awesome. VJ and the way she makes the playlists fit each novel is simply awesome.
» Writing about some of the realities of the music industry, i.e. the consuming nature and segway into substance abuse.
» Her ability to set the scene and just the imagery was outstanding.

The not so good:
» Rhett wasn't interesting. I didn't buy into the whole "the band is everything" thing he had going on. Esp. since he did a 180 by the end. VJ should've had him value love AND the music.
» I also give 0 fucks about some whiny rockstar (sorry not sorry). There was no reason for us to be on his side.
» Jules felt a bit hypocritical and judgmental in my opinion. If your client likes to sleep his way through women, who gives a shit?
» I complained about this in Cherry Beats but I don't want to read about the hero hooking up w. other women. There's nothing wrong with sleeping around safely, but I'm not sure I'd be able to be with someone after I've caught them in compromising situations more times than I can count. And I think a lot of people are like that.
» Jules' sob story also wasn't really believable so I found myself not caring.

This is a random note not necessarily related to this book, but her upcoming release Ghost Note.
» In the epilogue we get a sneak peek into Danny + Daisy's story. I'm more bummed because it's looking to be more of the same? Actually it's going to be a second chance romance, which I'm a sucker for. But I'm not sure I'm going to care bc Danny already seems like an ass tbh.
» Why will we as readers care about a man giving up love to chase his dreams, when he could've shot for the stars with support at his back? I guess we'll see how VJ handles it.
