I wanted to like this book more than I did. It got good in the end, when some of the more unrelated pieces started fitting together but overall this book rambles in a passive narrative style. And, I feel like many important characters were shortchanged and shallow. Maybe I would like this better if it were a movie? Moves very slow

A fast-paced page turner - I really enjoyed this coda to the Sherlock Holmes series. Holmes and Watson were very well portrayed, and all of the threads of the mysteries were drawn together well at the end of the book.
It is worth noting, however, that all in all this was a serious, dark read, with not much redeeming lightness.
