Wow. I absolutely loved this. There were parts where I gasped out loud. Don’t you love when a book does that to you? This gave me Avatar-esque vibes. Highly recommend.

Faebound was my first read from El-Arifi and I was intrigued by the premise! I found it was a quick read and I wish we spent more time in the world interacting with the world.
I think this book would have shone with a couple of contextual chapters at the beginning showcasing Yeeran and Lettle’s life before the inciting incident and allowing us to fall in love with these sisters before their lives were uprooted. I found there was too much assumption in the strength of their relationship. They’re sisters, they would do anything for each other. Would they? Why? I wish their sisterhood took up more of the pages than their romantic conquests. I wish I got to know each of their lives outside of the Fae lands. I wish we could have understood them outside of a situation of extreme stress. Idk. Their relationship was so compelling and we barely scratched the surface!
The inherent queerness of the world was quite comforting. The character designs were so intentional and beautiful. I truly believe the world has so much potential and I truly hope to see more of it in the sequel.

When I saw I got an advanced copy of this I about jumped around my classroom(teacher). It is worth all the hype and I am not even that far in yet. Not only will I finish reading this but I am ordering my own copy!!! The cover is beautiful! The concept I love! I would not be surprised if this book doesn't make all the fantasy lists of the year!
Updated: So beautifully done and I loved the entire thing! There are so many parts of the story I did not see coming. I loved the little book at the end too! I can not wait till the next book!
