A great essay! It felt more like an autobiography with some social critique. Nevertheless, i enjoyed my read a lot and find this author made very good inspirationnal quotes. This is a work that would suits a lot of millenials i really recognized myself and some real social problems in my generation from that book. Those issues that we feel kind of ashamed of. The last part is where i lost a little interest but it doesnt shadow the overall.

Levy’s book is vulnerable and honest, a great read for a person wanting some content about sobriety from an individual’s perspective. Narratives about alcohol use and sobriety centered about women are certainly lacking!! However, as other reviewers have mentioned, the book is repetitive in a way that doesn’t add to its impact. It starts to lose some momentum 2/3 through as the focus turns to Levy’s relationship, and I found myself losing interest as details around wedding planning became plentiful. However, I could see this content being important to a cis het white woman reader who has not yet seen the parts of life she cares about depicted in relationship to sobriety before. For me, I picked up this book to hear a first person recovery narrative, which I feel was very well represented in the first half even if I could have done without the last quarter.
