I find these light novels to be fast-paced, and straight forward. Despite the fact they deal with mysteries within the story, there is never a moment where you feel too lost. Not knowing the answer to things doesn't feel like you're at a disadvantage.
Sometimes the writing style can be very: This happened, then this, then this. Ta-dah. Which I realize would not work for everyone. Some folks like a little bit more back and forth between characters, but this is working well for me!
For those who are considering reading these because of the anime, I would recommend them! The show is staying pretty faithful to the source material!
