i am always taken aback by Benjamin’s writing but i mean it’s Benjamin Alire Saenz ! this poetry collection was so beautiful and heartbreaking. he puts you in the scene and you view it play out in front of you.

i literally can’t get enough of his poetic writing !

This book is one that literally keeps me awake at night sometimes— the connectivity that Saenz has with his inner self that he bares for the page is so raw and unfiltered, and he takes you on this journey. Each piece stands alone beautifully, but the real gem is the tapestry they weave when read together.

I am finally done with my second year at uni and what better way to get back into my old routine of reading than finishing a good old poetry collection.

I absolutely love Benjamin, his writing is such a comfort for me and I always find that I get lost in his stories. I think it's because I love ari and Dante so much and I can see bits and pieces of them in everything Benjamin writes, which just shows how much of himself he puts into his characters.

This collection of poems touch on sexuality, religion and losing faith, immigration and the feeling of not belonging or finding your place in the world. It is so heavy to read at times because of the topics but it's so important to read about hardships as well.

I love the variety of format with these poems, the words written, the beautiful imagery. *kisses book*
