Was waiting to read it the second it dropped at midnight and it didn’t disappoint. The last dancer/pro athlete book I read was The Striker when it came out and it wasn’t my favorite, so I was a little worried about if I’d enjoy this one.
I thoroughly did. I had to force myself to split up reading it into two sessions to sleep because I literally did not want to put it down.
For reference, it isn’t anywhere near as spicy as collide but it didn’t need to be. The dynamic between the characters is to crisp. This book made me realize how much I love the way Bal Khabra writes her FMCs. I found the back and forth between Sage and Elias to be perfection and the stakes to be believable.
My countdown has started for Revolve, but until then I guess I’ll just reread Collide and Spiral endlessly.

The fmc frustrated me so much. She was overly hurt about a guy saying no to fake dating her and then made wild assumptions based off of how he said no then didn't give him a chance to explain what he meant or why he said no. She in no way was required to listen to his reasoning if she hadn't made wild assumptions, then completely ignored him when he said that's not what he meant. If the roles were reversed, she'd be upset by how she was treating him. She was really unreasonable with her anger towards him and treated him shitty based on him saying no to fake dating her. Her initial reaction made this book borderline unreadable. Not to mention their relation went from non-existent to basically love in like a week. There was no build-up to make the relation feel real or buy-in for the reader to root for the main chaeacters.
Not a book for people with more than a passing knowledge of hockey. Team dynamics, playoff structure, the playoffs themselves, paths into the NHL, first vs second (vs 3rd) O lines, freakin ROOKIES, player trades, (I could go on) were all elements of hockey that were incorrect.
And if the author couldn’t do a basic google for NHL knowledge, you can’t even imagine how bad the sex and romantic scenes are written.
ALSO, also since future readers NEED to know to prepare themselves: MMC is CELIBATE and has a penis PIERCING. You’ve been warned.
Although I don’t think I fully understand the definition of celibacy here, because he still masturbates and then performs oral sex on the FMC. Is it only sticking his pierced penis in a vagina that’s not allowed?
