My favorite couple in the Off the Ice series so far??? SAGE AND ELIAS. No competition.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved Summer and Aiden, but Sage and Elias?? They own me now 🥹💘
Let’s talk tropes real quick because this book delivers them so well:
✨ Fake dating
✨ Slow burn (so slow I was screaming into my pillow)
✨ Hockey player x ballerina
✨ Opposites attract
✨ Found family vibes that warm your soul
From the very beginning, Sage was everything. She’s bold, unfiltered, unapologetically herself. She says what she thinks, doesn’t take crap from anyone, and is hilarious while doing it. She’s such a good sister, and honestly? The perfect match for Elias.
And Elias… omg. WHERE DO I START 😭😭😭 He’s the definition of a golden retriever boyfriend. Sweet, calm, introverted, thoughtful. He COOKS. He BAKES. He literally made banana bread and took my heart with it 😭💘 He’s soft and gentle, but don’t let that fool you — the man has layers 👀😏
Their connection was so beautiful. Both of them are healing from deep wounds — parents who didn’t show them the love they deserved, constantly putting others first and forgetting themselves in the process. It hurt to read at times, but watching them find hope in each other?? Pure magic. 🥹
Also: no third act breakup!!! HALLELUJAH 🙌😭 The drama was in their growth, their vulnerability, not unnecessary angst. And can we talk about how well the author portrayed Sage’s ballerina career? The pressure, the sacrifices, the beauty — it was all so well done. I loved that we got to really see her shine ✨
Bonus joy: seeing the gang again!! Aiden, Summer, Kian, Dylan and the whole team — I missed them so much and it felt like coming home 🥺
If you’re looking for a feel-good, slow burn, sweet-and-spicy romance with characters that grow and heal and love hard, you’re going to be obsessed with this one 💕

I listened to this as an audiobook. While I did enjoy this book more than the Firestone, I felt like the plot dragged on a bit. I wasn’t really feeling the story until about 55% through. Overall, it was nice but nothing incredible to me. Happy reading!

Bal Khabra does it again in the 2nd book of the Off the Ice series. This book was such a fun read and the banter and dirty jokes between our FMC and MMC are great - having you laughing out loud. It’s a found family that comes from a fake relationship that is constantly keeping you turning the page. And the slowest of slow burns with the most nerve wrecking tension that just drives you crazy but you can’t stop reading. And when the tension finally gives - because it is so amazingly written - oh it is all totally worth it!!!!
I do feel like some of the challenges and problems that our character came across were poorly or rushed to be resolved or just brought up and forgotten - so I felt that the plot aspect of the story lacked some.
Overall though it was still a fun read and I definitely enjoyed it. I will continue to read Ms Khabra’s books and hope her stories with our Dalton Boys isn’t done yet!!!! 4⭐️
