Sage and Eli were super cute, that much is for sure. As a retired dancer turned dance teacher, I definitely found myself cringing at some of the incorrect dance references but overall, it was a pretty ok story. The last bit of sabotage at the end felt thrown in for no reason, though, and I felt we could have done without those chapters.

This book was cute and fun, just a tad frustrating at times! It follows Eli from the last book as he adjusts to being a rookie hockey player in Toronto and the media circus he’s constantly dealing with. Sage is a ballerina who needs social media followers to attract the attention needed to land a principal role. They decide to fake date to decrease Eli’s media attention and increase Sage’s, and it doesn’t stay fake for long.

The good:
-Sage was a really charming FMC, she was funny and smart and kind
-Loved seeing the characters from Collide again, especially my boy Kian
-I loved the found family aspect

The bad:
-The main conflict was hard to follow and very drawn out. It was basically all internal in Eli’s mind and it didn’t make sense to me. Sage is pretty clear fairly early on that she’s open to a real relationship, and Eli really wants that too but won’t let it happen for… reasons? At various points, it was because he didn’t want to take advantage of Sage since she’s such a people pleaser, or it was because of his mistrust of people stemming from an incident in high school, or it was because he didn’t think he was good enough for Sage, etc. It was inconsistent chapter to chapter and it just made all of the problems feel a little made up just to make the book a slow burn. Even though I prefer slow burn books, I need there to be a reason for it to be slow. Eli was a meh MMC for me because he was little bit rude to Sage  sometimes because of his ~reasons~ and he was also just a little bit boring to read about

The swoony:
-I liked that they brought out the best in each other over the course of the book, that Sage helped Eli get out of his head and Eli put Sage first when no one else did
-They had really fun banter together

Overall I liked this book but it wasn’t as fun or romantic as her previous book!
medium-paced

A 80% do livro eu já estava a rezar para acabarem de uma vez com o livro. Acho que estou a ficar farta de romances fofos
