Many plot holes, character development was next to none except for the main female character, the author has over described and under described parts, all characters seem to be white so there's no diversity at all.

The author hasnt learned about any of the hobbies of the main character; the mc is a painter and hunter; yet the mc will often say to herself: "i dont know the name of the colour, so i will keep it for later", while it is true that not everyone knows the names of colours, SJM could still have described them better.

SPOILERS:
The MC's family starts off as having lost lots of wealth and were living in a shack having forced the MC to hunt for food, and the family (except MC) was in denial of it, even after 8 years and expected the MC to care for them. However, while MC was under the "care" of her kidnapper, the kidnapper gave the mc's family more wealth that they had before, thus the family learned nothing.

Adittionally
One of the characters towards the end while shown that he could torture the minds of fae and humans, sexually assulted the MC, however this was thrown in at the END of the book, thus seeming to have not been thought out at all.

Mostly no complaints except that the reveal of the
curse on Tamlin
was way too easy, it felt like a tying up of loose ends and wasn’t cleverly intertwined into the story, much too convenient. I also solved the riddle immediately??

I’m also not sure I love the way information is introduced in the writing style, sometimes I was like did I miss something? but it’s forgivable.

The story feels innovative and fresh though which is exciting.

I loved this book! It unlocked a whole new world for my imagination to go to. I've never read about faeries, but I remember trying to find faeries as a child, and this appealed to that nostalgia. I loved the intriguing characters and their actions/conversations were entertaining. I heard the series gets better, so I'm excited to read the next book!

The world building and story telling is really good. I enjoyed the dynamic between the Fey world and the Human world. Towards the middle of the book there was a chapter that could have been title "Info Dumping" but I wasn't too upset since it was interesting information. Feyre starts off as annoying and very hard headed. While I never disliked her, it was hard sometimes reading about the terrible choices she would make despite being told it was a bad idea.

Many of the graphic descriptions or allusions to torture were off putting. I know that was the point, but some of the characters seem to be over the top evil. Maybe Fey are different, but it seemed an unnecessary way to gain what they wanted.

I loved the characters of Tamlin and Lucien. Both are genuinely good men, even if it is misguided at first. But you can tell how they do deeply care for Feyre and their people.

For my first fantasy novel in a long time this was a fun and easy read. The romance plot was a bit tropey at times, but nonetheless the world-building made this forgivable. It was hard to get into at first but started to pique my interest more as the first few chapters finally completed the setup. Not the most deep or original in sone of the plot
this is kind of like Beauty and the Beast in some ways between the whole curse thing with a trapped girl to love him, a whole court of people under this curse too, and the library/painting gallery gift
but again, the world building saved this for me. I’m interested enough to read the next book.
