This series has been sitting on my shelf for a while and I’ve been too intimidated to start it (until a read along came by 😂). There are so many fans out there and I don’t always like the popular book but this was a pretty good start ✨

For:
-enemies to lovers
-beauty and the beast fantasy retelling
-magic and easy world building
-with a bunch of action (and some gore)
-has its main focus on the romance of the story
read it. ✨

It’s a great introduction into fantasy without having to focus on the world building or characters to understand it. You feel almost compelled to continue reading even though there isn’t much happening. The last few chapters were the best - with challenges and trials and hope.

I have to say Feyre irritated me a bit 😂 I felt exhausted at her trying to fight literally everything, even though I understood why. I do love that she becomes a bit more relaxed and human and we get to see how she views the world and lets out her emotion - through painting.

Though there’s some dubious actions from the males in this series 👀 so check any warnings before reading.

Overall, I loved it and I might just become an ACOTAR fan as I continue this journey 💕

echolliot's review against another edition

DID NOT FINISH: 74%

Just too painful to keep going - cliche, trite, and honestly just really badly written. I couldn't plough through with this garbage Beauty and the Beast reimagining. And the horrible, abusive "romance" stuff made me want to throw my phone away. Don't bother.

This was a reread so I can count onus with the rest of the series. This was a good book and for some reason I had remembered not liking it but I do. The characters are very lovable, especially Feyre. I am very interested to see what happens in the next book as there are many unfinished relationships and plot lines. Overall I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of romance, fantasy, and adventure.

Bad summaries:
500+ y/o guy falls for a 19 year old with an educational disability who doesnt know what to do with her life and then introduces her to royalty hell and forces her to save him from his eternal doom at the hands of a sadistic evil woman who kills for fun 🤷🏽‍♂️

I almost didn’t pick this up because people say it’s so spicy but it’s not even nearly as explicit as Ignite Me (or the latter books of Shatter Me)—but then again, this is the first book.

A Court of Thorns and Roses was an eventful heck of a ride. I found myself letting out deep breaths I didn’t know I was holding every once in a while. So many things happened in the span of the book that it’s sort of hard to backtrack each and every one, but one thing’s for sure: it’s been such an adventure.

The pacing was nicely done, and so was the world-building. Writing was pretty good, scattering information without giving too much away so soon. It was a pleasant (albeit tense) time.

I get the hype.
