This book gave Beauty and the Beast vibes, until it didn’t… I was thrown for a loop with the twists and could not understand some characters. I also loved that while I did go and get the next book immediately, the story was finished enough that I didn’t feel completely lost. It was definitely the right book to read coming back into reading and fantasy and I will reread it more than once.
If you, like me, are new here, love fantasy, haven’t read in a while and are just jumping back into the world of books then definitely read this book and then proceed to read the rest of the series because you will want to and you will love it.
If you’re one of the awesome book people that have been recommending this book and series forever, then thank you!

I found myself waiting the whole time to finally connect with the story. I never really did! The plot just didn’t track for me, the logic of the treaties and curses felt weak.
Feyre is reckless and fickle and just…unlikeable? I clearly just did not like this book 😅

but the plots great, story building is great and weird thing to pick up on but the names of the characters are great too. Gonna listen to the next audio book in the series soon!
Also Jennifer Ikeda is a great narrator! Her at x1.35 speed was the perfect reading pace for me!!

i get that she had to set up the world and make the ~love story~ make sense but jesus it was slow.
feyre is illiterate as a plot point but she’s also an idiot. being uneducated and being an imbecile are different things, and she is both.
tamlin is boringgg, and worse, he’s blonde. i cannot bring myself to gaf abt him. blond men are a plague.
amarantha is a drag, she could’ve been a really interesting villain but instead we get these weak little challenges. like…
other “villain” is interesting but i have to say…
also, the phrase “my bowels turned watery” needs to die a fiery death... why did she say it three times😭😭😭 GIRL now i’m sick to my stomach😭
whatever, i’ve now read it and i never have to endure it again and i’ll know wtf my friend is talking about when she references it. that’s enough for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
