It's interesting enough that I wanted to finish it, but the use of "females" and "males" instead of men/women was a red flag for me. Tampon had on a thin vail of chivalry, but I should've known what was up with him the moment Feyre went to save his butt. (Post Court of Mist and Fury review)

Definitely a book that kept me invested! For a book of true fantasy escapism, I would recommend this book. The world building, character building, romance, and plot weave together in a way that sucks you in. Lower than 4 stars because I don't think it's doing anything particularly new for the genre. Even so, I bet the whole series will be an engaging and easy read.

Very entertaining and engaging, an intriguing world with interesting characters. Writing style is simple and easy to understand, Maas has a love of overusing certain words like "tang" so if that bothers you you probably won't enjoy this.

Unfortunately we had an entire chapter of clumsy infodumping and the villain was too cartoony to take seriously, so I took a star off for that. Very heteronormative society as well, with characters making assumptions and statements that everyone is straight.
