I read this knowing I would hate it but feeling like I had to so I would know what the kids were up to. I was afraid when I got the notification that my hold had been fulfilled at the library. I feared the fairy porn that held the world by its throat. I was scared that maybe I would love it too, despite my best efforts…

THIS BOOK IS SO BORING!!!!!! I WAS SO BORED!!!!!! THERE IS ONE SEX SCENE!!!!! ONE! I WAS PROMISED THE GREATEST FANTASY OF ALL TIME (in every sense of the word) AND I WAS FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE TO EVEN PAY ATTENTION!!!!!!! WHY ARE WE READING THIS??????? WHY???????

I couldn’t put it down but I also can’t believe I read it. The friend who recommended it warned me that it’s amazing world building but the writing itself is not the main feature. She was right. I’m still emotionally attached. The 2nd book is better and definitely worth reading.

Why did people ever like Tamlin? He is toxic from the start!🤔

*ETA After sitting with my thoughts and then eventually reading the first 3 books in the series, I have changed my rating from 4 stars to 3.

A wonderful book that got me out of a reading slump. You could easily see it’s influence from Beauty and the Beast, which made for an interesting slow-burn romance. I enjoyed the characters, and the storytelling was vivid, pulling you right into that world.
In saying that, this book does have its flaws including slow pacing, a few predictable plot points, and some cringy dialogue.
Overall, it was a compelling read that I couldn’t put down. I look forward to picking up the sequel.

I had heard about the book on TT as being a fairy smut novel, but this turned out to be a great disappointment. Not only for the laxk of smut, but it was an almost copy of The beauty and the beast (but fairy edition). I’m not a huge fan of fairies so if you don’t come into it with an adoration already, save some time and pick up another book

Listen....I don't know why this book interested me as much as it did. Like I was FULLY invested in Feyre and the fae boys. Also quite a bit darker and super gruesome towards the back half. I'm intrigued though to say the least...
