Loved this book I read it in two days and could not put it down. I cannot wait to read the next one.

The start of this book is rough and the main character is almost unbearable.

Part of the ending seemed predictable. With all the build up the author took to understand the plot and the amount of details in the end, I really expected more struggle at times. There were twists I was expecting to make the challenges even more difficult for the main character.

I also think I’m not the kind of person who’s into romantasy/fantasy and that’s okay. I’m going to give the next book a shot since the end of this book did get a bit better. I also don’t like to leave series unfinished and friends have been repeatedly telling me the other books are better.

If you told me that SJMAAS hates this main character, I would believe you. I've never seen so much gaslighting and victim-blaming towards a character as was done to Feyre. None of them deserves her. Not her family and definitely not Tamlin (I'll probably change my mind later, this is just the first book).

The story drags on in the first half of the book, but then it becomes so engaging that it is worth it. Amarantha is such a great villain!

I loved all of this. I can't wait for the next book - 4 stars!

For the amount of both love and hate this book gets, I ultimately found it quite middlying. The writing it fine but often very repetitive, the world was quite interesting and I liked how it was introduced however I found the character dynamics really lacking and I struggled to root for the relationship.

It's neither as bad nor as good as I've heard people say.

Don't get me wrong, it is bad. It's got terrible pacing, it's horribly repetitive, the main character is thoroughly unlikeable, and the writing itself is poor (odd word choice, run-on sentences, grammatical sloppiness, trope-y refrains...). However, you'd thinking it was the end of literature from how some people talk about it.

All in all, a very mid, unimpressive book, not nearly deserving its huge fanbase, but if you're in the mood for schlocky, "dark" fantasy romance, you'll probably enjoy it.

Feyre was one of the most annoying and stupid main characters I'd ever seen in a book. I many times wanted to just punch her in the face. Her way of thinking was so provoking I even made a whole book tab of my annotations for annoying things and dumb shit by her. If there's anything that made me give that low rating it was her.
