This book got me on a chokehold plot twist after plot twist. It was a bit slow for me at first but the second half??? Gut wrenching. Absolutely cannot wait to read the next one.

This was my first foray into the fantasy/romantasy genre. The last fantasy series I read was Harry Potter when I was 11 years old, so needless to say, it's been a while. One of the things I wanted to challenge myself on this year was to explore new genres and so after seeing the ACOTAR series countless times on my For You Page, I decided to give them a try.

The first half of the book was a touch slow for my liking and I was slightly worried that I had made a terrible mistake but something clicked in the second half and the book completely opened up. I found myself becoming more and more invested in Feyre and Tamlin's budding relationship and was very tense and nervous when we were taken to the Under the Mountain scenes. The book is spicy, the world feels expansive and lush, and for my first taste of romantasy, I ended the book very pleased and excited to start the next one in the series.

If you're like me, it's almost like you kind of have to get your "fantasy feet" wet to really get your bearing in the books and to fully get into them. It's a new world for me (literally) and although it took some time, I ended up really enjoying the read. Everyone keeps telling me that the next one is even better and a wilder ride so we shall see!

So she's How Old? And he's How Old?

I do not care that they're Fae because even in Fae terms, he's, let's say, middle aged. AND SHE IS 18?!?!?!? Still a child. Both on a human and Fae scale.

So ... it's gross. That's all I'm saying. Literally no reason she couldn't have been 30.

Feyre reads like a Pick Me in the beginning, which made me very unsympathetic to her and her plight. As the book continued, however, she became more human. Tamlin and Lucien began as more sympathetic characters.
