I enjoyed the set up to this series but this could’ve been a standalone as the entire story is neatly wrapped up by the end. I’m interested to see how the supporting characters are developed as this series progresses. The world-building is great and the allusions to Beauty and the Beast aren’t incredibly overt.

Unintentionally funny because of bad writing. Predictable and cliché. Considered DNF’ing multiple times, powered through out of curiosity - was disappointed. Will not read again.

I HATE THAT I LOVED THIS BOOK. It’s written like a movie and some parts are silly or don’t make sense, but the world and descriptions of all different creatures sucked me in. I don’t actually like the two main characters as I find them dull and uncomplicated, but characters in the periphery, the world building, and the speed of the story kept me wanting more. Also confused why this is considered smut as there is  romance but only one true quick sex scene. God, now I have to read the next one.
