A slow and not-that-steamy start to a series I have heard so much about. After abandoning it 100 pages in a few years ago, I decided to give it a second chance. This time I was less distracted by the writing quality and better able to come to care for the characters. I ended up quite enjoying it but I think it could have been half as long.
I was also very frustrated at the main character for not solving a riddle that would have cut out the whole final conflict of the book. For plot reasons, I knew she wouldn't get it until the last second, but the answer seemed so obvious to me.
I'm looking forward to continuing the series, especially to learning more about Rhysand, high lord of the night court. He did unforgivable things, and yet being one of those good bad guys who sometimes does the right thing has me intrigued and mad at myself for it.
I like the twist this story put on the tale of Beauty and the Beast, and I wonder if the rest of the series will bring in fairytale elements as well.

It was okay. Some of the darker parts didn’t feel like they fit the setting. I think it was supposed to have a dark fairy tale feel, but it never completely achieved it in my opinion. Some cool descriptions of setting.

Not a fan of the “spicy” content, but some people like that. Seemed a bit cringey at some points to me. Romance storyline was a bit disappointing. To be fair, I don’t particularly read for romance. This one definitely wasn’t good enough for me to care much for it. Sometimes it felt like things were thrown in to make it more adult that didn’t quite fit.

A few of the side characters I grew to like, but MC I only barely liked (didn’t love her.) I felt very neutral about the love interest. I didn’t like or dislike him, another thing making the romance boring to me.

Interesting plot with some successful foreshadowing. Plot was intriguing enough.

this book is so hyped i was kind of disappointed. its fun dont get me wrong but idk the convenience of the plot line pissed me off. i had a lot of thoughts and i annotated the shit out of this book so it was pretty fun. i felt like there was no reason for her sisters being so terrible. it just seemed like bad writing. the way they were acting didnt seem justified?? I PICTURED TAMLIN AS HARRY STYLES I CANT HELP IT. every male love internet will be harry styles in my mind. and he was sexy idc. their love story went so fast too:(. i wanted more pining but it happened so fast ig bc of the deal. I LOVE LUCIAN SO MUCH OH MY GOD he is so 💕💕. there were so many times where the second hand embarrassment was so brutal i almost stopped. HER SECOND TRIAL OH MY GOD. FADE TO BLACK SMUT??!! ik this book is YA but cmon yaaaallll. i feel like making Tam a super powerful faerie is a cop-out. it was one of those things that just seemed a little toooo convenient. also like making their table smaller was taxing on his magic but he just gave Feyres family an entire fucking mansion???!! and her fathers ships with ALL of their money was mysteriously found??!! finding out that she was part of breaking the curse was so heart breaking bro idk how she didnt feel used or questioned Tams love for her cuz i feel like thats how most stories would go. I SMELL A LOVE TRIANGLE BETWEEN TAM FEYRE AND RHYS HEHEHE. that mf is so weird dude ALSO I FEEL LIKE HES SO STUPID BINDING THEM TOGETHER LIKE THAT. like he forever has to feel her nut. or maybe he did that one purpose 🤨. hes kinda fine tho ugh. the way she describes him too like cmon i feel like something is fs gonna happen. her becoming a high fae at the end was too convenient broo. it was just the worst way to make her a high fae. i feel like the author could have done it so much better. anyways i liked it it was fun.
