Some stories were good, some were cute, and some were boring and made no sense. Still liked it though.

A bit mindless. Some stories are more enjoyable than others, but most are pretty exclusive to the author's library system. My stacks may have made more sense than the stacks kinda deal, ya know?

I could relate to many of the very short conversations in this book but I don't think it would be that entertaining to someone who had never worked at a public library.

I bought this about a month ago (at Amazon but at their marketplace), and it finally came in 3 days ago! I just wish that the shop it came from hadn't put a sticker on the cover, as the cover is paper and thus if I try to remove the sticker the cover rips. :|

Back to the book and how fun it was. Really it was, I laughed so much, and even shared quite a few of the things in here with my boyfriend, who also laughed, but (just like me) shook his head and wondered what was happening in the world that people did those things, or didn't know the simplest things (like asking if the library also has books, or thinking dragons were real creatures).

I loved how the book was separated in Dewey decimals/categories for the chapters. It definitely fitted perfectly with the book, and I really glad they went for that instead of just boring old chapters. :P I definitely loved how the chapter names were stuff that you could indeed find on those decimals.

Plus I liked the introductions that each chapter had. It gave a bit of a background on what was going to happen in this chapter, and I liked reading them.

Some of the stuff mentioned in this one did seem quite not true, but I am guessing it is all true, and people are really that weird or stupid (like the guy with fingernail fungus and him just typing on the keyboard without a care).

The Carol chapter was the one that worried me most, I thought I might not like it, but in the end it turned out to be one of my favourite chapters in the book. Carol is quite the character.

Also plus points to the cover.

What more? Well, I do hope that this author will continue to collect stories/conversations like this, and that she will make more books about it. The world needs more books like this one.

I would highly recommend this book to everyone!

A hilarious and heart-warming read, whether you want to be a librarian, are a librarian, or just love libraries in general. As a future librarian myself, I liked this little glimpse into what is to come and I hope to have my own stories someday too!

ARC received via Edelweiss in exchange for a fair review. (I keep forgetting to put that on these reviews)

The last book I read about working in a public library was [b:Free For All Oddballs Geeks and Gangstas in the Public Library|1970282|Free For All Oddballs, Geeks, and Gangstas in the Public Library|Don Borchert|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1405048344s/1970282.jpg|1973500], back in 2009. Thoroughly enjoyable, though I see by my review that it was autobiography heavy, which I never enjoy as much as the funny stuff.

Where has this blog been all my life? Why did I not know it exists? I have librarian friends, they are apparently letting me down.

A lot of the time, a book that comes about because a blog is popular and funny can be a real let down. Especially if you're already a fan of the blog and have read all of the contents (I'm looking at you, Not Always Right. Not gonna happen). I can't speak from that perspective, because again, I haven't read the blog.

But this is on the same keel as that. Snippets of stories from real librarians about the wonderfully insane and hilarious patrons they see every day. Crazy people aren't limited to libraries alone, but I don't think anyone is prepared to learn that librarians deal with it just like retail workers.

I was definitely not prepared for the final chapter, which is about the good patrons. The little girl who wants to be a sparkle librarian. The little boy who wants to go to the library every Wednesday until he dies. And the final story, about the spy who just wanted some Krispie Kremes. Those stories are the star of this book, and made loving the funny stories even sweeter.

My only complaint? I wish it was longer. Pardon me, I'm off to go follow a new blog.
