Eeeeh... good but not great. It was a little harder to stick with this one somehow, it felt a little slow/tedious in places. I think the pacing here could have been better.
That all said, I read it pretty quickly and enjoyed it, for the most part. Not loving the "sassy Black friend" here (though Temper is fire!), but oh well. We get some more Des, which is great, and the chemistry between these two is still great. The spice here is a bit secondary (3/5), but overall good story. Led me to read on, so I think if you liked the first one, you'll like this one. I am, however, hoping that the final book will pick up.

This was pretty good! The middle was a little slow but things really picked up by the end!

I’m so excited this book took place in the other world. However it wasn’t all sexy time with Dez and now I’m left with more questions than answers. I’m hooked.

Where some second books have the dreaded second book syndrome (aka they’re just filler), A Strange Hymn managed to avoid it. The development of both plot and characters is smooth and rather impressive.
I truly enjoyed the reintroduction to Temperance. Other than the fade to black spicy scenes,
it is an excellent middle book!
