Wowza! Thalassa is a MASTER at cliffhangers! I give her mad props for creep factor too. Holy moly, the kids are seriously creepy  😅 She writes a fantastic antagonist. I cannot WAIT for book 3 and to see where this is going.

Better than the 1st

I think this one was better than the first. Loved all the intrigue and world building. I love all the twists and turns.

This book was good, and I am loving the series so far, but it was hard for me to read at times. It got slow, and I would lose interest. Took me awhile to read.

While we got more of a plot in this book, it was still much more heavily romance. Don’t get me wrong, I love the dynamic between Des and Callie.  He is still super secretive, but you can tell he is catastrophically in love with Callie.  She is extra sassy and pushes Des to his limits, creating a delicious back and forth.

I don’t like to compare book series, but I get major Rhysand vibes from Des.  Shadow powers can disappear and reappear at will, extremely powerful, obsessed with his mate, rather controlling.

While I do believe Des truly cares for Callie and would never make her do anything against her will, he does always seem to get his way.  Even Callie finds herself questioning if he would ever let her go, although she never seems to be truly scared.

Temper is hilarious and I love that she has Malaki so enthralled.  Destroying a portal into the Otherworld to save your best friend is one hell of a way to make an entrance.  I can’t wait to see more of her and Des being chaotic together.  Just from the small glimpse we got, I know it’s going to be glorious.

The Thief of Souls is creepy as hell and I really need to know how people who should be dead are not actually dead.  Now that Callie is immortal, she’s more at risk than she ever was as a human.  Hopefully we actually get a moving plot in the final book to answer all these questions.

All the stars! A little predictable in some parts but thoroughly enjoyable!

I love Des more and more as the series progresses!
