Really enjoyed Beartown and was looking forward to the sequel. It did not disappoint. Love the character development and expected/unexpected things have develop in the book. Really enjoy how Fredrik Backman writes and his character insight. You really feel like you know the characters and his writing is so easy yet interesting.

I am always amazed at the picture Backman can paint so precisely without a ton of words. Several lines in this story are written so well that they feel like a punch in the gut and really make the reader pause to take it in.

Backman never fails to make you feel something. This book made me feel anger, frustration, sadness, hope and joy all blended together. It was an interesting continuation of Beartown, though I feel Beartown could have just as easily stood as a stand-alone novel. This also felt like an end of a series again, so I wonder what could happen in the third. I’m curious to read it but the size of it is also scary! 🌿🌻

Thank you reining in your pomposity and not shoehorning the wisdom nuggets into every page. It's still there but much more tolerable.

I have come to realise what Beartown saga truly is. It's soap opera.
Is the book manipulative? ✅
Was I successfully manipulated? Hell yeah!

Beartown is still such a distinctive place that I can't help but loathe and love it in the same breath. But if it were not for the beautifully written characters I might have bailed out on this series long ago. That's where the strength of the novels lies.

The second book is less intense than the first one which was a blessing, I can't go through the stress of the first one again. But even then, Backman is relentless when it comes to doling out tragedy to the residents of Beartown. Sometimes it hits hard, sometimes it's so blatantly manipulative that it's funny.

He does pull off a poignant end to the tale.

Fredrik Backman strikes again... This book will live rent free (along with Beartown) in my head for the foreseeable future.

Ler livros com expectativas elevadas é sempre arriscado.
