This is probably my favourite book i have read yet this year. I have followed the poets square story for a few years and preordered the book as soon as I could. It far surpassed my expectations and made me both laugh and cry. It provided an insightful portrayal of the ups and downs of the feral cat community and the issues around it, as well as educating me on Courtney’s own health struggles, both mental and physical. It was interesting learning more about the behind the scenes that go on behind the social media account, and I felt like I personally got to know Courtney. The moment that stuck out most to me was the chapter about the woman’s house filled with decaying pigeon corpses and stray cats and the emotional conflict that Courtney Gustafson had with the situation, due to the threat of losing her home and the feral cat colony that resided outside, and her ability to get it to a more manageable point. I would recommend this book to everyone.
